The purpose of this trial is to establish how much difference bottom heat makes to germination time and rate.
3 weeks after sowing, 5 or more seeds have now germinated in the Aquilegia pot in Group 1, the hot group.
Still nothing doing in the three unheated pots after 3 weeks.
Today I’ve pricked out the ‘hot’ aquilegia (15 out of 33 germinated, 45% rate) and the Zephyranthes (5 out of 7, germinated, 71% rate). The rate for the Aquilegia is quite low, lower than I expected.
They are now snug in roomier accommodation in the heated bench.
