Six on Saturday. Six things, in the garden, on a Saturday. Could be anything – a flower (fat chance!), berries, seeds, beasties, a job to do, a failure, anything at all. Join in!

Here are my Six for this week.

1 – Mina lobata seeds. The very successful mina lobata had not yet set seed, or at least they were not yet ripe, by the time the frost got it. I salvaged a few seed heads when I tidied the plants up and they have been drying out in the shed. I was a bit skeptical this would work, but sure enough it seems to be. I should have plenty of fresh seeds to use next year.

2 – Rose Dr Eckener. I think this is my angriest rose. It has a top to toe covering of closely packed thorns, and each feels like it has been sharpened deliberately. Definitely one that I make sure is well tied in, one of these waving about could do some proper mischief.

3 – Angelica archangelica, new growth. I tidied up the front garden the other day, cutting almost everything back. It is always nice to clear away the old to reveal the new. This plant is well ahead of the game.

4 – Early lupins. I sowed these some months ago, from seed collected from this summer’s flowers. They got off to a fast start and perhaps unsurprisingly have slowed right down as we head in to winter. The roots will still be busy establishing below the surface, but I expect all this top growth will wither away soon, to be replaced, I trust, with fresh growth.

5 – Allium Christophii. I enjoyed these so much last year I have bought a load more, partly by way of insurance, but mostly because I hope to have a small army of them. This one is from last year’s batch, I noticed it poking up as I was scouring the estate looking for something, anything, worthy to include here. Jolly nice to see it.

6 – Hydrangea ‘annabel’. Like a floral Mrs Faversham, this shrub is still wearing its now faded gown. There are about 5 stems, each topped with a crispy pom-pom. I’ll have to prune it back at some point, but that can wait for a while.

Those are my Six, what are yours? If you’d like to join in, just publish your post and pop a link to it in the comments below. If you also mention my blog in yours that would be super duper. For more details you can read the brief participant guide.

No gardening for me this weekend, am off with Mrs P for a stay on a houseboat near Bath. Am hoping it comes with heating of some kind. Don’t forget to pop back as more links get added during the day.

I’ll be back next week for another #SixOnSaturday.
