I shall be brief today as I should be packing for holiday in Devon.
Here are my Six for this week.
1. Telekia. Grown from seed last year, the plant is rather untidy in the leaf department but I do like the flowers.

2. Eryngium. Blue, nuff said.
3. Hollyhock. Tall, pink.
4. Crocosmia. Short, red.

5. Taming of the creeper. This is finally doing a good job of covering the dodgy render under the bathroom window. It does grow very vigorously though, I have to shin up a ladder 2 or 3 times a year to keep it under control.
6. Verbena bananarama

That’s all folks! Next week’s edition of #SixOnSaturday will come from the English Riviera.
What a great and cheerful selection this week. I’m sorry I missed it, but well done for getting it out and going on holiday. I did not get that right (no holiday, but a day out). Ahem, that is why, my Not Six on Saturday is only here now.

I really liked the hollyhocks (mine are still under 6 inches high, but there’s hope yet), the view of the creeper, and the bananarama — what a great name 😉

And I really like your red front door 😉 I fancy an orange one, but no one else in the family is keen…

I grew Telekia from seed as well, it got absolutely huge and swamped everything around it! Had to get rid in the end. However, the bees absolutely adored it. Enjoy Devon, hope the weather stays good for you. Here are my six https://wordpress.com/post/davidsgardendiary.com/4150

The weather was soooo nice today that I could not get myself to come inside! Sorry for my very, very late addition to the meme! Here’s my link:

I’ve seen the Eryngium twice today, which I’m taking as a sign that I need to get it in my garden! I hope you’ve had a nice trip! 🙂

Well done on your brevity – so hard to do!! I wonder how tall your hollyhock is? I have one that thinks it’s Jack’s beanstalk! Enjoy your hols and thanks for hosting. My six are here:

I’m not familiar with telekia, but read it’s a kind of ox-eye. Interesting flowers, they look like they were rolled on or flattened!

Fun flowers on the telekia. I can’t believe you’re intentionally growing Virginia creeper. You know it will consume your house and everything in it right? Enjoy your holiday in Devon. Rest up and keep an eye open for plant sales! Here’s my Six. https://pruneplantsow.wordpress.com/2021/07/24/sixonsaturday-july-24th-harvest-grow-bloom-make-go/

When we bought our townhouse 5 years ago, it HAD been consumed by The Creeper and we pulled the whole lot off the building and continue to kill shoots. The spiders and other insects were awful! This is Australia after all!

The creeper certainly crept! It must look wonderful in the autumn. Have a great holiday, hope the weather improves on todays offering.

Take care in Torbay, Covid is rampant around there! Otherwise, enjoy! Although it’s a lot cooler (and wetter) today in the south west. Hoping my son will come down here tomorrow and shin up a ladder to cut back my Virginia creeper. I get worried when it reaches the roof tiles.

I’m looking out for things to brighten up a dull end of July and August Garden, and you have given me food for thought. Have a great holiday. Food is often on my mind: https://noellemace.blogspot.com/2021/07/its-been-too-hot-six-on-saturday-24.html

I hope you have a great holiday, everyone loves the Telekia, including me. It looks very like Inula, maybe a close relation? I’ve inadvertently become an advert for Hardy’s Cottage garden plants this week. If you’re in the area it is a great place to visit: http://kasmaty.blogspot.com/2021/07/sixonsaturday-celebrating-hardys.html

My old man came from Devon, so all our childhood holidays were in Devon, staying with my grandparents. I remember interminable journeys down the A30 packed into an Austin 7, and little else. Telekia is new to me, did it used to be something else? Like Inula? Here’s mine: https://wp.me/p6bCCa-2VR

I did think the Telekia looked very like what I thought was Inula

Enjoy your holiday. Hope the garden water has been provided for. I removed most of the hollyhocks as the rust had got too bad. Self seeders coming back now.

Vibrant colours this week – very nice. My verbena boniarensis hasn’t done as well at the back of the borders, or where it is supposed to be, but there are seedlings all over the place where it isn’t supposed to be, especially on the patio among the blocks. Have a good holiday.

I saved the best of my Six for last.
Oh, what is that creeper? I do not remember. It looks like Boston ivy. It also looks like Virginia creeper. I really am not so acquainted with Virginia creeper though. I think of it as Boston ivy with compound leaves.
Telekia sounds like a Mexican beer. Bananarama sounds like totally rad fer sure!

Wishing you a fabulous holiday Jonathan. I too have a creeper knocking at my bathroom window – ivy in my case. Nice Telekia – they have a strictly come dancing fringed twirly skirt vibe.

Blimey, that creeper is huge! Great vivid colours and I really like the Hollyhock. Enjoy your holiday in Devon. I had last week off and nipped over the border into Devon a few times to be beside the seaside… beside the sea https://onemanandhisgardentrowel.wordpress.com/2021/07/24/six-on-saturday-24-july-2021/

I’m up early this morning: good morning all! The Telekia is my favourite this week. Have a great holiday – my Gran used to live in Budleigh Salterton, surely the best name for a Devonshire seaside town.
