Don’t Panic! These soothing words adorn the cover of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and are also an encouragement to Captain Mainwaring. Of the two, I am more channelling Corporal Jones, as I realised just now that I still haven’t ordered my bulbs for next year. What! I normally have that done in early July. Will they still have what I want? Gaaagh. OK, breathe…

Time for Six on Saturday. Six things, on a Saturday. Could be anything, you decide. Join in!

Here are my Six for this week.

1 – Geranium ‘Crystal Lake’. A bit of a sprawler this one, but the flowers are rather pretty and it tolerates partial shade. This one is planted in the front of the shady border and seems to be doing OK.

2 – Rudbeckia fulgida ‘Goldsturm’. Brightening up a couple of my borders, I now have two quite large clumps of this. I think I will divide them in the spring, give them a bit more room. I generally don’t like yellow flowers, or at least certain shades of yellow, but goldsturm here is an exception for some reason.

3 – Poppy seed heads. The poppies are long gone but the decorative seed heads remain. They are chock full of seeds, each one probably enough for a garden full of poppies next year. I will sprinkle the seeds liberally and pull up any that are surplus to requirements.

4 – Begonia ‘Glowing Embers’. I had three of these last year and attempted to overwinter them. One was in a pot on the greenhouse floor, it died. Boo hoo. Two were in pots on a high shelf in the greenhouse, they both survived and are now flowering abundantly. Result. This winter I might do it properly, removing the tubers and storing them “properly”. Or I might not….

5 – Berberis thunbergii ‘Golden Rocket’. I’ve had this for a few years now and it is slowly growing into a worthwhile border plant, holding its own more with the thugs. I bought it for the foliage.

6 – Gladioli, pink one. The glads have been late to get going this year, or at least later than last year.

Those are my Six for this week, what are yours? If you’d like to have a go just publish your post and pop a link to it in the comments below. If you also mention my blog in yours that would be splendid. For more details you can read the brief participant guide.

I hope you have a fabulous gardening weekend, don’t forget to check back later as more links get added during the day.

I’ll be back next weekend for another #SixOnSaturday.
