Six on Saturday! Six things, in the garden, on a Saturday. Could be anything – a flower, foliage, a success, a failure, anything at all. Join in!
Here are my Six for this week.
1 – Shed roof, naked. The felt covering went in the storm yesterday. It has needed replacing for some time, it was leaking and causing the plywood roof panels to warp, causing more leaking etc. I’m actually surprised it stays as dry inside as it does. Storm Eunice has forced my hand, I need to get on and replace it.

2 – Aster ‘Little Carlow’. I want to move this clump and a few others like it further back in the border as they get quite tall now. I think I will plant some helenium among them and in front, the colour combination would work well I think.

3 – Hellebore ‘Pink Lady’. A bit of colour, not to be sniffed at this time of year. Rather demur, though, your hellebore. A small act of contortion was required to see the underside of the flower. Or is it the top side?

4 – Daffodi ‘Jetfire’ A reliable performer, I have lots of these. Won’t be long now.

5 – Palm? I’ve totally forgotten what this is. After a couple of years of not doing much, I think it is actually putting on some new growth. It is in a biggish pot on the patio

6 – Fence casualty. There’s an odd bit of extra fence which is not a full size panel, not secured on one side by a concrete post. The strong wind has done for it, another job to do in the garden that isn’t even gardening.

Those are my Six for his week, what are yours? If you’d like to have a crack, just publish your post and pop a link to it in the comments below. If you also mention my blog in yours that would be triffic. For more details you can read the brief participant guide.
Stay safe, I’ll be back next weekend with another #SixOnSaturday.
Forgot to add my link, I wouldn’t want you to miss my after Eunice Post: https://noellemace.blogspot.com/2022/02/six-on-saturday-after-storm-eunice.html

No garden pics from me currently. We’ve entered the tired end of summer here in our far south isle of Tasmania. Sad watching BBC News Online as massive tree after massive tree was filmed falling down during Eunice. Many years of growth gone. I do hope there’s replanting where they fell.
I suspect we shall see more of these super-storms with climate change. Not a happy thought. So will leave on a far nicer one: lovely to see spring growth appearing in the northern hemisphere.
Cheers all and may your trowel-tines be sharp and your back be ache-free.

Glad you weren’t too badly affected by Storm Eunice. Love the Hellebore, and I definitely want a palm. The garden is getting going despite cold winds and rain. I didn’t go outside for my six, but looked for inspiration in the greenhouse. I find if there are plants, there’s always inspiration. Here are mine: https://kasmaty.blogspot.com/2022/02/sixonsaturday-retreating-to-greenhouse.html

Sorry to hear about your fence and shed suffering damage in the storm. Loving your Hellebores though. I have been absent for a while but here are some six for this week

Happy to hear the storm damage was manageable. I know what you mean about tasks in the garden that aren’t even gardening! I love the top picture of the hellebore with ferns in the background. Your palm looks very healthy. Here are mine: https://roguegarden.wordpress.com

I’m glad Eunice didn’t do much damage. I saw some videos that looked like Eunice was more hurricane than storm. Love the color of your hellebores! Here are my six: https://stoneyknob.wordpress.com/2022/02/19/sos-seeds-2022/

I was surprised to see the wind speeds from Eunice, that nasty girl. Good lunk with your roof. https://theshrubqueen.com/2022/02/19/six-on-saturday-the-warm-up/

Good luck with the fixes! Looks like your hand has been forced. That lovely hellebore looks just like the one that seems to have disappeared from our garden, lol. đŸ˜‰ Why do some just do that, while others thrive?

I imagine there are quite a few damaged fences and roofless sheds around the country today, I think mine are all OK, but have yet to check thoroughly due to heavy rain this morning. Still very breezy down here! Hellebores and the dwarf daffs are survivors.

It seems like there is stormy weather here in the southern US too. A nasty front passed through Thursday night bringing heavy rain and strong winds. There was not much damage in my neighborhood. Today, I send you my post, Daffodils and Winter Projects

I’ve had a few storm related structural issues too. So annoying. But that hellebore is lovely. https://pruneplantsow.wordpress.com/2022/02/19/february-features-2-19-2022/

Just shed roof replacement – or whole shed? Sorry to hear about these unexpected non-gardening jobs đŸ™„ Just twigs down here, although there was a random piece of render outside the front door whose origins are so far unclear… Thanks for hosting. Afternoon! Sorry to hear you’ve got non-gardening garden jobs to do đŸ™„ My garden escaped the wrath of Storm Eunice fortunately.
My six this week are from my new allotment, which I signed for this morning, thereby opening up a world of possibilities for future #SixOnSaturdays!
Have a good weekend!

Sounds like you got off relatively lightly too. My neighbour’s shed is in bits on the ground! Here is my effort https://davidsgardendiary.com/2022/02/19/six-on-saturday-51/

We did get a bit of a thrashing didn’t we! Neighbours suffered loss of fence panels but all was okay here. Here’s my spring six https://n20gardener.com/2022/02/19/six-on-saturday-storm-eunice/

Sorry to hear the storms have damaged your fence and shed, as well as so many other SoS gardens. Looking out of the window now it seems strange not to see the trees thrashing around now.

Hope you get your storm damage sorted in the dry. Nothing too bad here, thankfully. I think that Asters and Heleniums are made for each other.

Power came back on this morning, but no phone line/internet so you may not get to see my collapsed fences and thrashing bamboo. Off to help with two trees down in a friends garden, not a good day yesterday.

It is a good time to move asters and I think new design involving a popping orange will work really well. I’m sure you will be treating us to view of the results later in the year.

Good morning. I’m rather worried about the state of the roof of our retirement apartment at the bottom of your garden! Never mind, so long as it is waterproof before we move in. đŸ¤đŸ¤¨ I hope you haven’t had any other damage, we have been lucky here. Meanwhile, I hope you manage to keep avoiding Covid and that Mrs P’s tests come out negative soon.

The storm gave you extra work for the weekend… The damage seems minor fortunately. Good luck fixing all that. Does your palm tree deserve to be planted in the ground?! https://fredgardenerblog2.wordpress.com/2022/02/19/six-on-saturday-19-02-22/

Mine are slightly late, but here they are.
You palm is intriguing. I can identify many palms, and should know the few that perform will within your region. It looks like a Chines fan palm, . . . but I would not expect to see that there. Windmill palm, needle palm and scrub palm should be happy there, but do not look quite like that.

That’s a lovely hellebore (I had to do similar contortions to take a photo of mine). We lost a few fence panels here yesterday (or the neighbour did – thankfully the panels are leaning over towards their garden and not ours) https://onemanandhisgardentrowel.wordpress.com/2022/02/19/six-on-saturday-a-rhyming-one-19-february-2022/

Glad the damage wasn’t too bad. Eunice tore through Belgium too, our neighbour’s fir fell a little too close for comfort! Lovely hellebore but if only they weren’t so shy.
