Morning folks! Time for Six on Saturday. Six things, in the garden, on a Saturday. Could be anything, you decide. Join in!
Here are my Six for this first weekend of meteorological spring.
1 – Daffodil ‘Jetfire’. A reliable favourite in my garden now, I have several clumps of these.

2 – Border phlox. I liberated this from my a clump in my mother’s garden a few years ago. The flowers are white. I divided that liberated clump so I have two groups now. Both are now in exactly the spot I have reserved for the mahonia I bought some months back. I need to move them somewhere else.

3 – Shed roof, mostly repaired. Last weekend was a tiring race against time. I had a couple of days of good weather before the rain came back on Monday. On closer inspection much of the plywood was rotten so had to be removed and replaced, a job which took most of Saturday. I managed to get 2 of the 5 8m rolls of roofing felt on by the time it got dark on Saturday, leaving the rest to do on Sunday. That would have been fine but I had 2 hours driving and the small matter of a very hilly marathon race to do first. What I really wanted to do was have a nice snooze on the sofa, but instead I was perched on the shed roof for the rest of the day. I got all three of the remaining rolls done and nailed on so it was at least watertight before it rained the next day. I have yet to tidy the edges or to fully seal the joins, a job for this weekend if I’m lucky with the weather

4 – Rose Mme Isaac Pereire. Putting out nice new shoots and foliage after a good prune the other week. An almost purple pink, I’m looking forward to her flowering this year.

5 – Nope, no idea, totally forgotten. I know it is gradually spreading about, and it has yellow flowers. I vaguely recall there being something smutty about the name. I expect someone will remind me what it is. No, wait, I’ve remembered! Lesser celadine ‘Brazen Hussy’. See, bit smutty.

6 – Those allium roots from a few weeks back have been joined by top growth, and I still haven’t planted the damn things in the ground properly. At the moment every visit to the garden, every Six on Saturday even, is a bit of a reminder of the long list of things I have neglected to do.

Well anyway, those are my Six, what are yours? If you’d like to take part, and please do, just publish your post and pop a link to it in the comments below. if you also mention my blog in yours that would be triffic.
Have a great weekend, happy gardening!
I’ll be back next weekend for another #SixOnSaturday.
I have Madame Isaac Pereire in my garden too ❤ she's a beauty.

Oh boy! I have to keep reading your posts to keep myself motivated. You are amazing – marathons on top of everything else! Congratulations!
Here’s my Six (but with no marathons):

Nothing from me again this week – it’s been drear and sea-misty all week. But am loving working my way through everyone else’s gardens. Mr. P – a question: is roofing felt waterproof? Felt? In any case, well done on not just running but doing ANYTHING in the garden.

Not so much a shed, more of an annexe, well done with reroofing. I wasn’t going to take part this week, then casually looked at the blog and some of the other contributors and have written about things other than my garden because I didn’t have any photos of it! I have included a 90th birthday and Tiny Forest planting: https://kasmaty.blogspot.com/2022/03/sixonsaturday-with-difference-this-week.html

Well done on the roof! Just in time. Daffs look wonderful – Thanks for hosting. Brazen Hussy indeed…https://theshrubqueen.com/2022/03/05/six-on-saturday-tending-benefits/

Gosh, that IS a big shed! And I am glad it now has a roof again – nearly! Hmm, celandine is a bit of a dirty word, although I am sure the Brazen Hussy is not as profligate as her lesser rival… There is a lesson to be learned amongst my six today:

Such lovely hellebores, Cathy. I vaguely knew about the leaf trimming of some varieties of hellebores, but because most of mine are now tagless and I have forgotten their names, I tend to go in and trim all the flowers and dead leaves away, leaving any healthy ones. Maybe I should just trim the lot!

The other types I mentioned are fairly new introductions, so if you had yours a few years you can assume they are not those

That is one BIG shed! Most impressive. Do the ‘Brazen Hussy’ spread as wilfully as the wild lesser celandines? I hope not! I have had to remove those under my tree as they overwhelm the cyclamen and crocuses, but they are persistent little Bs. Yours does have prettier leaves it has to be said. Only one flower species to show you this week from my garden, though the bulbs are starting to make an appearance so hopefully there will be more to show next week.

I don’t know why but I can’t seem to add a comment at the end of your sixes anymore. My favourite hellebore is the anemone centred one, but you’ve a good mix there.

That’s weird. I haven’t changed any settings. What device are you using?

I write my Six on a macbook but tend to read and comment with iPad as, until now, it seems to work better.

Mmm… someone else has mentioned problems commenting using an iPad. Maybe WP has changed something.

Don’t you hate it when jobs you have to do take priority over jobs you feel like doing. Hope the shed roof gets completed without incident! https://pruneplantsow.wordpress.com/2022/03/05/sixonsaturday-march-5th-soft-and-spikey/

Your spring plants are in advance of mine by far although we are not far geographically. Here are my six (taken in poor light yesterday).

Its beautiful weather here in the Southeastern USA this week. The plants are really showing new growth. There will be a little bit of a return to cooler temps next week but it will be rainy. Here is my effort for the week. https://mensgardenvestavia.wordpress.com/2022/03/04/blooms-and-buds/

You have done a great job on that shed roof. My shed needs a bit of TLC too. More six here https://murtaghsmeadow.wordpress.com/2022/03/05/six-on-saturday-5th-march-2022/

Great job with the roofing, and I hope you get to complete it this weekend. The Celadine leaves are an amazing colour and the texture is lovely. I do like the Jetfire daffs. Nice job on the enormous shed! I have just revamped a border which had about a zillion self sown Allium Christophii swamping it. Shame to chuck stuff but sometimes you have to be ruthless! Here are my six https://davidsgardendiary.com/2022/03/05/six-on-saturday-53/

Wow that shed roof is a job and a half! Lovely little daffodil you’ve got there. A few are beginning to come out here.

Good morning. The shed is looking good – well done. I couldn’t knowingly buy anything vaguely related to the celandine that takes over my garden at this time of year, although I just pull up what annoys me and don’t go worry too much if I can’t remove all those bulb like roots. See you later.

I agree! They are almost impossible to pull out! However, I did read somewhere that wood ash can kill them so I emptied my ash can from the wood burner onto the ground under the tree where they grow, and touch wood, there are no signs of them. Yet!

I’m happy to admire Celandines from afar but wish I could get daffs to grow. I’m waiting for a solitary bud to open from last years planting. Perhaps I should try Jetfire. Here are mine: https://wp.me/p6bCCa-3cH

Allow me to congratulate you on your roof – quite an accomplishment, particularly on top of a marathon. Smutty or no, the Brazen Hussy has a nice shape and color. I look forward to seeing the yellow flowers against that background of deep purple. Mine are coming soon.

It has been a while, but again, mine is devoid of foliage, bloom, or any significant vegetation. The only minor vegetation visible is seed and three tiny seedlings, and one of those three seedlings is barely visible.
Brazen Hussy is one of those names that is awkward enough to make me not want to talk about it. There are many naked lady here, but I refer to them as Amaryllis belladonna.
Phlox mysteriously appeared in one of our landscapes a few years ago, and has done well enough for us to share it with other areas. Some sort of campanula did the same in the same area. Our phlox could be the same. It is the simple white, which is my favorite anyway.

Well the shed will be good for a few years now. I like the look of the leaves of your smutty celadine, but I think it would be too rampant for a small garden. Here are my six: https://noellemace.blogspot.com/2022/03/six-on-saturday-marchs-first.html

Good job with the roof. I had the joy of agreeing to re-felt someone’s roof recently, only to discover that the roof (along with most of the rest of the shed) was rotten. I sympathise!

A marathon and a roof in one weekend! I am very impressed.
Not much going on in my garden this week, but I did spot an early Bluebell coming into bud. Here’s my link https://wp.me/p2Eu3u-hP3
I am off to work now, so I will pop back later a blog hop the other posts.
