In a triumph over other priorities and procrastination in general, I actually got a few hours of gardening done last weekend. I finished the shed roof, more or less, I cleared old growth, lifted and divided a few things, gave the lawn its first mow of the year, had a little tidy and even planted some alliums (but not all of them). It was quite the flurry of activity, relatively speaking. I rather enjoyed it. I may be less productive in the garden this weekend as I have a fairly long run (51km, ahem) to do today, a reconnaissance mission for a 50 mile race coming up next month. Maybe tomorrow, we’ll see.

In the meantime, let’s do Six on Saturday. Six things, in the garden, on a Saturday. Could be anything, you decide!

Here are my Six…

1 – Lesser Celadine ‘Brazen Hussy’. I’ve managed not to forget the name in the week that has passed. Now beginning to flower, this one will probably be fully out at some point this weekend. I don’t much like this shade of yellow (it is forever ruined for me by forsythia) but it is a nice contrast with the purple bronze leaves.

2 – Aster ‘Little Carlow’. I’ve been meaning to move these for ages, I finally got around to it last weekend. Having disinterred the clumps I divided them into smaller groups and replanted further back in the border, interspersed with helenium ‘Sahin’s Early Flowerer’

3 – Snowdrops, I think. I stared at these for a while before remembering (probably) what they are. Somebody from this parish sent me some snowdrops in the green last year, I’m ashamed to say I forget who. It’s nice to seem them growing well, they clearly survived the transit and my ham-fisted planting. Thanks!

4 – Malus ‘Rudolph’, buds. This little tree is rousing itself after its first winter in my garden. Let’s see if it produces blossom this time around.

5 – Narcissi ‘cyclamineus’. I must say there isn’t a lot obviously cyclamen-ish about these daffs, for it is they for which these are named.

6 – Viburnum tinus. Planted for some winter interest, it’s more like early spring and there’s not a lot of interest. Still, mustn’t grumble.

Those are my Six, what are yours? If you’d like to have a go, just publish your post and pop a link to it in the comments below. If you also mention my blog in yours that would be triffic. For more details you can read the brief participant guide.

Have a lovely weekend, I hope you get some gardening done!

I’ll be back next weekend for another #SixOnSaturday.
