Six on Saturday is on tour in Slovenia. For the geographically challenged, Slovenia is a smallish Balkan state nestled between Austria and Croatia. That’s all in Europe…
The area we are staying in is quite mountainous, alpine even, and very green. None of that baked out brown that was beginning to be prevalent back home before we left.
Six on Saturday, then. Six things, in the garden, on a Saturday. Could be anything. A flower, a tool, a harvest, a pest, a problem, a success, anything at all! Join in…
A holiday Six from me this week. All are wild flowers seen around and about. Since I know nothing about them I shall let the flowers do the talking…
I think the last one is my favourite.
So those are my vacation Six, what are yours? If you’d like to join in, just write your post and pop a link to it in the comments below. If you add a link back to my blog that would be smashing. You can tweet, Instagram or facebook a Six instead, just use the #SixOnSaturday hashtag. We’re down with the kids here, dontchaknow. For more details, please see the brief participant guide.
Have a super weekend, don’t forget to check back in during the day as more links get added.
I’ll be back next weekend for another #SixOnSaturday.
Dianthus monspessulanus superbus, Gentiana asclepiadea. The latter has an AGM too.

Those are all so pretty, it’s hard to pick a favorite, but I would have to go with your first photo, with the lovely thin, thin petals and that pinkish, lavender color. Looks like it would make seeds well, too. . . I seem to be posting Six on Alternate Saturdays; here’s mine for this week. myownlittleallotment.wordpress.com/2018/08/05/six-on-saturday-august-4-2018/

Centaurea, Cyclamen, Chicory, Dianthus? Those are my best guesses. They all look nice and lush. Enjoy your hols.

No six from me this week as I am concentrating on butterflies 🙂
Lovely to see the wild flowers from this region, I imagine there must be lots of alpines and the second image looks like an orchid (from behind). Enjoy your holiday – don’t even think about the blog until you are home again. We’ll still be here 🙂

I love wildflowers, maybe even more than cultivars. I think it’s their tenacity – a quality that is underrated, imo. Enjoy your vacay, and don’t worry about replying to everyone. We’ll give you a pass this time! Here are my six:

Gosh, I can’t choose a fav amongst those wildflowers. I really like #1 & as yourself, #4. If Jim’s right about the himalayan balsam, then I give it 5 stars for smell & pity whomever has to pull the seedlings out of their garden (as we did every year 2 gardens ago – even the woods behind our house had a solid undergrowth of h balsam). Hope you guys are having a great time. From Twitter, it seems you’re doing a lot of walking, the best way to visit a country. Have a great time & forget about us!
So here’s my meagre offerings this week. I’m beginning to scrape the barrel for things to sound excited about. http://lorahughes.blogspot.com/2018/08/making-best-of-it.html

Beautiful plants those and it looks from Twitter like their setting is stunning too. Have you tried hunting down a local book on wild flowers? This is something I like to do when on holiday, much to the annoyance of my family, who’d rather not trail around on such fools’ errands. Here are my Six, also not parched and brown as they come from the lush tropics of the greenhouses at Kew and my own greenhouse haven.https://www.teabreakgardener.co.uk/my-gardening-week-six-on-saturday-04-08-18/

Love that Southern Belle hibiscus. And I must try to get to Kew. I’ve never been and keep promising myself I’ll go.

Ah, so now I am not alone in enjoying the misty green delights of far-flung European parts! It looks stunning and those wildflowers are gorgeous, makes me wonder why I bother with a garden when nature does such a great job. No six from me today, I’m having a blogging break as life has got in the way but still have time for a quick peep at other Sixers. Happy hols!

Looks like a nice place you’re to. Commendable brevity to your post too which suggests a modicum of distancing yourself from social media duties. I’m intrigued by picture 4, which looks like Himalayan Balsam, naturalized there as it is here. Here are my six: https://wp.me/p6bCCa-1BW

Lovely interesting plants. I particularly like the yellow spikes from under the plum tree! I’m going to search for that.

I love seeing the back-to-front season shifts on 6 on Saturday. It’s lovely to have a reminder of snowdrops! Good old ‘Bowles Mauve’. It keeps for two to three seasons here then has to be renewed. The hot dry weather here in UK has seen mine off early. It is very brown and dry but still trying to flower. It’s a ‘do-er’.

Bowles Mauve has the same habit here, June..it’s fortunate that it’s easy to propagate. I know what you mean about the seasons. I’ve been enjoying everyone’s summer flowers in the depths of winter.
