We are on our way back from holidays in Slovenia today. We have had a lovely family vacation, joined at various times by cohorts of extended family, so we were mob-handed for much of the time. Eleven kids aged 10 to 18 made for a noisy but fun-packed 2 weeks.
Six on Saturday, six things, in the garden, on a Saturday. Could be anything – a flower, a seedhead, a harvest, a pest, a failure, a success, anything at all. Join in!
So my Six this week then are a postcard from Slovenia…
Those are my Six Nine, what are yours? If you are feeling strangely drawn to participating, don’t be afraid, all the best people are. Simply pop a link to your blog post, tweet thread, Facebook post, Instagram, whatever, in the comments below. Bob’s your uncle, Fanny she is your Aunt. For more details you can read the brief participant guide.
Have a fab weekend, hope you get some rain/sun/warmth/shade (delete as applicable), and don’t forget to check in later as more links get added.
I’ll be back next week with another Six on Saturday.
That’s all a bit jaw-dropping!! Incredible photos – thank you for sharing!

That looks really picturesque! And we’ve got that steady drizzly rain today that gets you soaked if you set foot outside, so it’s perfect for the allotment (I hope!)

Thunder & lightning woke me up a short while ago…and Phoebe the dog as well! The rain so far is minimal unfortunately.
Wonderful shots from Slovenia! What a treat. The gentians remind me of my Dad who loved photographing them. Mine are not yet open.

Slovenia looks lovely, and it sounds like apit was a wonderful vacation. Currently sorting though my vacation pics to see if any are suitable for a bloggy-type thing.
In the meantime, after a hiatus of several weeks, I finally managed to put together a SoS:

Lovely postcards of a lovely region. I recognised Lake Bled there with the castle, I hope you got to visit the castle as there are amazing views from up there. Nice blue Gentian (?) flowers too. Hope you have a good flight home.

I can report very heavy rain on M40 on Friday and torrential rain in N20 in the afternoon! Main water butts full again.:) Grass needs mowing and for the moment order has been restored! Sounds like a great holiday was had by all and hopefully your garden will look fab too!

Wow, definitely postcard material there. Such beautiful landscape. Am so taken by the serenity of it. Love that bridge. And the timber shots at the end . . .pretty wild. Is that an industry or something you stumbled across on a morning run? Anyway, my garden is soooooo opposite those shots, I’ve resorted to writing about my dog. https://lorahughes.blogspot.com/2018/08/one-dog-six-gardens.html

Yes forestry is a big deal in the area we stayed. Most private land comes with a chunk of forest so there is a stack of firewood, lots and other timber on every property. There is also large scale forestry. Stacks of wood everywhere.

Sounds like a lovely holiday. Some beautiful photographs but for me, living offgrid and heating my home with wood, the log pile is the thing of greatest beauty. Beats even your talk of hot compost in a previous post. Oh to have such a stack in my garden! Now call me sad 😂
